County Mayo and The Lake District

The old Irish railway has created Ireland's longest cycle path of 42km and incorporates a magnificant stretch of scenery. It is fantastic for family excursions as it is very safe with no main roads to cross and ideal for walking, running or biking. Suggestive Driving Itinerary

Take the Lough Mask Drive that is a loop drive passing along the shores of Lough Mask and Lough Corrib through mountain ranges and beautiful villages of Tourmakeady, Clonbur and Cong. Or follow signs onto Louisburg and go over the famous famine walk region of Doo Lough Pass and onto Killary harbour to see Ireland's only Fjords.

Cong village famous for the filming of "The Quiet Man Cottage" featuring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Explore Cong Abbey and original monk's fishing house on the banks of the River Corrib and Ashford Castle a splendid castle surrounded by magical maze gardens and romantic forest walks.

Heritage Sites & History Museums

Trace rural ancestors from the mid 19th -20th Centuries and see the lifestyles and tools they used are on display. Visit Ballintubber Abbey dating back to when St. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland in c.441AD. Head North of Mayo to Ceide Fields a unique archeological site and neolithic landscapes on the edge of cliffs. At Foxford Woolen Mills, shop for luxury Irish woolen rugs, tweeds at the mill.

Westport, Achill Island, Coastal Beaches

Westport offers visitors fish restaurants, farmer's markets, live entertainment and Irish dancing. At Achill Island you will find sandy beaches and wonderful spots for sea angling.

Knock – The Marian Shrine

Our Lady’s Shrine Knock attracting over 1,500,000 visitors each year was noted for the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Croagh Patrick the Holy Mountain goes back to over 5,000 years ago. It is renowned for its Patrician Pilgrimage in honour of St. Patrick.
